CamSur Animation Studio was established on January 6, 2006 as a project of then Governor and now Congressman L-Ray Villafuerte. The goal is to provide jobs for the Bicolano artists specially the out of school youth through its 2D Animation Training Program. The studio started with 30 traditional animation tables because we train using traditional animation.
The Provincial Government, in its commitment to provide employment opportunities to the people of Camarines Sur, thru then Governor and now Congressman Luis Raymund F. Villafuerte has conceptualized the “Gov L-Ray Artists‘ Workshop”. This aimed mp4to pool a workforce of artists to support the growing demand of local and international animation companies here and abroad.
The training is offered to qualified applicants who eventually will be hired by local and international companies. With close coordination with Manila based Animation Company, the first ever screening took place last July 4-5, 2005 at the Convention Center, Provincial Capitol Complex. From these, Directors has evaluated the portfolios and has done actual screening of the said applicants. Among the applicants, 30 trainees were selected and comprised the first batch.
The training for the first batch of trainees started last January 27, 2006 with Woodpeckers Studio trainers as facilitators, On June 30th of 2006, 26 trainees have complied with the requirements and had graduated.
From then on, the studio has produced thousands of graduates in the span of 18 years.
Works
Karouma is a fictional character who wants to leave his parents’ nest so he can live his own life. He wants to pursue his dreams and realize his full potential. This multi-awarded short film was released in Abu Dhabi in 2016 by MAD Solutions in collaboration with CamSur Animation Studio.
Produced by Indian and West Bengal film studios, the series, Mysteries and Feluda, is about a fictional Indian Bengali hero who is a detective by profession and lives in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Feluda’s character resembles Sherlock Holmes and Tapesh’s character resembles Dr. Watson. The film was released in 2011.
Bikkies tells the story of courageous women who have taken the roles of community protectors. When they receive information of any trouble, they don super hero outfits, ride on their motor bikes, and resolve the problem. The film was released in Australia in 2011.
Lava Kusa was released in India in 2007. It shows the adventures and misadventures of twins Lava and Kusa. Based on the Indian epic story Ramayana, the film was created by Rayudu Vision Media Ltd in cooperation with CamSur Animation Studio.
Dayo is the first all-digital full-length animated feature film in the Philippines. Created by Cutting Edge Productions in collaboration with CamSur Animation Studio, the film features the adventure of a young boy with ghastly Filipino mythical creatures. It was released in 2008.
Die Tigerenten Bande was released in Poland in 2009. It features the life of Hannes who just can’t seem to fit in with the rest of his fourth grade class in a small town primary school.
